Refreshing the Look
Every now and then there comes a time when you’ve just got to give your website a completely new look. It’s not like anyone will notice this time. My so called “personal” blog has been effectively dormant for years now.
I’m considering giving it a little attention.
Regardless I decided to give the site a new look. Because I pretty much work exclusively with the Genesis framework these days obviously I had to use a Genesis child theme for this. Even though we have a ton of great Genesis themes over at Web Savvy Marketing I decided I didn’t want as much of a business theme.
So instead I’ve gone with Sixteen Nine from StudioPress because it’s bloggier.
We’ll see how it all plays out.
Getting My Bearings
Thank y’all so much for your thoughts and prayers as my wife and I navigated through this challenging time.
Things went remarkably well through it all.
Now I’m working at getting my bearings and digging out from under a week of missed work.
I’ll be up and running shortly. Then we’ll get back to the blog tour.
Thanks again.
Enjoy!
Delaying My Part in the Blog Tour
I will have to delay my part in the High Calling Blog Tour.
We received a call this afternoon to tell us that Gorgeous’ father passed away.
We are flying out to Wisconsin on the first flight out. I’ll finish the tour after I return.
Thanks so much for your understanding.
Shhh… I’ve Got a Secret
Thought you might want to know that I’ll be writing over here again soon.
New Blog Feature – On-line Bible Search
Update: I changed the code per Scott’s suggestion in the comments below. Now the search box actually works. Oops! 😳
Hey guys! I’ve added a new little feature to CREEations that I thought might be helpful for some folks.
Over in the right side bar is a little search box where you can search eBible.com to see what the Bible has to say about stuff without having to go off to some other site. And it’s a good double check for me!
Here’s what it looks like.
Enjoy!

CREEations Joins the Mug Club
Yesterday I received an award in the mail from Tom Vander Well over at QAQnA. Tom invited me to join his Mug Club and I gratefully accepted. Looking through the club I see that Tom has put me in very prestigious company!
Tom even sent me a very beautiful gold plated travel mug which, as of this morning, will officially replace my old Starbucks travel mug as the ubiquitous appendage on my wanderings.
I actually nearly met Tom when I was up in Chicago this summer. We were both in town at the same time, me for business. If I remember correctly, Tom was visiting family. Unfortunately our schedules did not work out. Ah, well.
But I do find it interesting how the blogging world seems to revolve around Chicago, at least in my case. Hmmm…
Thanks Tom, for the honor. Yours is an incredibly classy major award (unlike the major award the dad received in A Christmas Story). I’m sure to use it until I wear it out.

Spam Attack
UPDATE: Apparently the spam problem wasn’t on my end at all. The program I use to get handle on it (Askimet) experienced down time. It happened to coincide with my updating to a newer version of WordPress. Go figure.
ProBlogger and BloggingPro both wrote about the problem this morning. I’m glad I wasn’t dealing with their traffic levels yet, eh? Scores of spam comments are relatively manageable compared to thousands!
Please bear with me. I’ve been having some technical issues over the last couple of days.
Part of my problem has been a spam attack here at CREEations. I normally get scores of spam comments every day here. I have a good safeguard that has been shutting them out cold.
Until a couple days ago, that is.
They were all getting through like I had no protection at all. It was disconcerting.
At first I thought somehow the comment from Dot a couple days back might have something to do with it and I even considered deleting the comment finally to see if it would help.
But I think the problem had more to do with the fact that I just upgraded to the new version of WordPress, which is the core software which runs everything here at CREEations, at about the same time.
Somehow with the upgrade my anti-spam thingy forgot to come back online.
It took a while, but fortunately I think I resolved that issue finally. In the mean time I was frantically checking in ever couple of hours to delete the dozen or so viagra ads and such that were flooding my comments sections.
Oh, and I have been working to format an add-on Library function over at SuccessCREEations, so this weekend was busy behind the scenes. The Library is close to being ready to go live. Just a little more tweaking…
Hope you have a wonderful day today.
Enjoy!

Moving is a lot of Work
Well we are finally getting situated in our new home. There is even more to do than I thought.
WordPress has plugins and widgets and all kinds of other groovy things to make the whole blog better.
The challenge is that there is so much to learn that I find I get distracted way too easily! I’ll start out to change one thing, and as I try to figure out how to do it I see a dozen other things that I can change while I’m at it. Many of the things that will be simple and obvious to me down the road take forever right now.
Of course I was a kid that would take 20 minutes to look up a word in the dictionary because I’d see a whole bunch of other interesting words that I didn’t know yet. I’m pretty sure that’s not normal…
But we are making progress and will continue to tweak and modify as we go.
The plan is to get back to a normal posting schedule by tomorrow.
Please feel free to drop in a comment with your opinions on how things are going at this point.
Enjoy!

Off and Running
Well we’re off and running on our new platform this morning. I’ve still got a ton of stuff to do.
How do I access that pesky left sidebar of this 3K2 template to change it, anyway?
Thanks for your patience in the move. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have figured out the sidebar issue and be able to get back to regular posting.
Enjoy!
